Just One Percent -- Meditation

Meditation is such a powerful tool in terms of improving physical health, mental health, and improving quality of life. It also has a powerful affect on our spirituality and connection to our higher power. It is thought of by many of us in terms of spirituality alone. For those who value the spiritual side of life, that's just fine, but for those dismiss it because of that spiritual connection, all of the other possible benefits are lost as well.

That's a lot like getting rid of a car you love because the oil got dirty.

Let's review some of those real world, practical benefits the practice meditation carries with it:

  • Decrease in stress hormones
  • Decrease in incidence of cancer, heart disease and stroke
  • Increase in youth related hormones
  • Improved memory
  • Improved behavioral responses to stress
  • Decreased road rage

Modern medicine acknowledges the health benefits and I've been hearing about doctors prescribing meditation to patients. I''m working on a suite of tools for those wishing to use meditation medicinally.

Businesses are beginning to recognize the bottom line impact meditation can have on employee retention, job satisfaction and medical cost. I am also developing packages businesses can use to introduce meditation to corporate and small business culture.

In the meantime, feel free to make use of these tools for group meditation and techniques for individual meditation.

Practical Tips for a Satisfying Meditation Practice

This is ready for use in a beautiful online edition that you can download to your own computer so you can refer to it anytime. It's illustrated with full page photographs that will inspire peace (like the one backing this page. The content is broken down into three sections. The first section is full of reminders of why you want to meditation (in addition to any spiritual impulse) as motivation. The second section suggests a number of techniques to try so you can find the one that works best for you. The third section contains the tips that will help you address any roadblocks that might come your way.

I wrote this booklet because I believe that one of the most powerful things we can do to help ourselves live well and improve the quality of life for those around us (and, ultimately, the world) is to find that still, peaceful place inside ourselves and visit it regularly.

Your purchase of the online version will contribute to my efforts to encourage the practice of meditation by as many people as I can possibly reach and when the paper version becomes available, you will be able to purchase it at a discount. Cost for the online version is $3 plus Minnesota sales tax.
